Well, what's going on? This city in Belarus has more to offer than just an oil refinery! With around 98,138 residents (or maybe a few more if the local hamsters count), Navapolatsk is a hidden gem in Vitebskaya Voblasz. The city's main attraction is the famous Naftan oil refinery. It is said that it is so impressive that even the cloud cover sometimes breaks open in awe. The refinery, which opened its doors in 1963, now employs almost as many people as the number of cups of coffee I drink on an average Monday. There may not be a lot of information when it comes to sightseeing, but who needs sightseeing when you have Plaza Vernisazh? This is not an ordinary restaurant, this is a culinary adventure! They offer a variety of dishes, some of which are even on the menu. And for those who like it cozy, I recommend Café Am Stadtgarten. Not only is coffee served here, but real liquid joy is poured into cups. The homemade desserts are so delicious that after the first bite you'll forget why you wanted to be on a diet in the first place. So, pack your bags, put on your most comfortable walking shoes (or better yet, buy new ones - the weather in Navapolatsk can be moody at times) and head to this city of surprises.
